Acne is a real skin disorder that many people feel that they might never have gotten rid of if it weren't for some of the latest treatments. You can treat acne successfully as long as you have the patience, but what do you do if you have oily skin too?

What is oily skin?

Sebaceous glands are in our skin and they produce sebum to keep our skin well moisturized and protect the skin from microbial infections. Dead skin cells and lipids make up sebum. Sebum is produced constantly, just like if you don't wash your hair for a few days, it becomes oily. If your body produces too much sebum, you will have oily skin.

Why do some people get oily skin?

Sebum makes the skin oily and some of us have over active sebaceous glands. That is why some people end up with oilier skin than others. Hormones trigger excess sebum. This is the reason many women have more oily skin around the time of their menstrual periods. You might be able to control your skin normally or you might want to talk to a doctor about other methods meant to control sebum production.

The P.acnes bacteria will flourish in the right environment of this kind of skin. The bacteria can infect many glands and can produce acne. There is a chance for you to manage it properly. If you do not have this kind of skin you will not have a very high chance of getting acne.
